The river Torridge is spanned at Bideford by an impressive stone bridge dating back to the 13th Century and is the focal point of the town. Along the much improved and bustling quayside you can watch the fishing boats and daily life go by, settle into one of the quayside coffee shops, or visit the Kathleen May the last remaining wooden hull three masted top sail schooner.

The Tarka Trial offers fantastic opportunities to stroll, walk, run or cycle and it runs right past the centre of the town.   You can also take advantage of the many footpaths, hills and breathtaking views to fill your lungs with some sea air.

Appledore is a great place to go and relax further .  Steeped in boating history since the 14th Century the town still has an active boatyard and fishing fleet together with thriving local artists and numerous art galleries, craft shops.
